SURNAMES: JOHNSON, SCOTT, LILLY, PERCIVAL

JAMES JOHNSONwas born in Warren county, Ohio, November 25, 1825. His father, Charles JOHNSON, and Anna, his mother, whose maiden name was SCOTT, gave him a good common school education. January 22, 1852, he married Miss Nancy LILLY, a native of Warren county. They settled on section five, in Philo township. George M., their son, resided in DeWitt county, Illinois. Olive, the oldest daughter, a lovely and accomplished young lady, died in 1880 at the age of twenty. Their other daughter, Anna, became the wife of Mr. Otis PERCIVAL, and also resided in Philo township. Mr. Johnson took no active part in politics, but generally voted the democratic ticket when the candidate suited him. He held the office of highway commissioner of Philo township for fifteen years and helped lay out about all the roads in Philo township.
